CommunityNet is not about technology. It is about making a better life for you and your family. CommunityNet paves the way to better educational access, improved health services, increased business opportunities, faster government services, and an array of other opportunities. Just as importantly, those benefits are available no matter what your age or where you live.

  StudentsAssists students in all grades and in all types of learning environments, from those in classrooms in rural or northern schools, to students in larger urban classrooms.
Gives students and teachers greater access to learning resources and increases research capabilities, particularly in schools in smaller communities that often don't have access to the same learning experiences that students in urban centres enjoy.
Assists teachers, especially in rural areas, to meet the growing demand to provide instruction across an increasingly wider range of study areas.
Advances post-secondary training in rural areas, and helps retain students, graduates and faculty for a knowledge-based society.
Enhances education and training in First Nations communities.
Facilitates the development of on-line courses, expansion of distance education and other new learning methods.

A pilot project known as "Learning Village" has been launched that will fully utilize CommunityNet's potential as a data sharing network. The project offers secure areas for communication between administrators and teachers, lesson planning for teachers, sharing of best practices, communication between parents and schools, student assignments, and more.
There is no additional costs to schools, and even reduces costs in sparsely populated school divisions.
  
  NurseImproves access to specialized services and follow-up care for people in rural regions.
Permits health providers in rural areas to consult and share information with their urban counterparts faster and easier.
Allows smaller health centres to better utilize the new generation of medical applications, such as the electronic transmission of CT Scans.
Reduces the costs for health facilities of systems development and support.
Advances the work of the Saskatchewan Health Information Network in developing a province-wide telehealth network.
  
  Office WorkersAllows SaskTel to speed up expansion of its commercial high-speed service for individuals and businesses. Thanks to CommunityNet, SaskTel has already been able to expand its commercial high-speed network from eight communities to 237 communities. Options, including new wireless technologies, are now being utilized to provide service to even more communities and individuals.
Enables businesses in potentially connected communities to develop e-business opportunities not impacted by distance or location, which will assist rural communities to compete and remain viable.
  
  StudentsProvides access to the Internet and the many resources it has to offer to people who may not have a computer in their home or workplace.
Allows people living in communities that don't yet have general access to high-speed Internet services to take advantage of commercial and government on-line services that require faster download speeds.
Allows libraries to more effectively deliver programs and services to their clients.
  
  HandEnables government departments and agencies to offer a wide range of on-line service options to people across the province.
Allows government departments and agencies to work together more efficiently and more cost-effectively.
Reduces the costs of administering programs.
